Breathwork can be a profound tool to support our bodies in releasing what no longer serves us while creating more capacity for rest, creativity and deeper self love.
This particular type of breathwork has roots in South Asian medicine and is derived from the pranayama breath. It is a conscious, connected breath meditation where we actively breathe to increase the oxygen in our nervous system to help move overwhelming, stagnant or suppressed emotions and energy that may be held in our bodies.

Mary Thomas has been a fitness and wellness professional for more than 25 years. Her passion for yoga began in the late 1990s. Mary is E-500 RYT Yoga Alliance certified and teaches many forms of yoga including Kundalini, Vinyasa, Yoga Sculpt, and Restorative. When practicing and teaching yoga, Mary endeavors to connect the whole person by connecting the physical body with spirituality.
Kundalini Yoga is an ancient form of yoga dating back to at least 1,000 BCE, and was brought to the US in the 1960s by Yogi Bhajan. Kundalini yoga differs from traditional vinyasa yoga practices and is often called the “yoga of awareness.” The purpose is to activate Kundalini energy, which can help one move past the ego and activate spiritual awakening. A typical Kundalini yoga practice involves tuning in (chanting or singing), pranayama (breathing), kriyas (a set of repetitive physical movements for a specific goal), mantras (repeated words or sounds), mudras (hand positions), meditation (settling the mind), and relaxation (a state of calmness).
